Why we exist

The Regina Missional Church Network (MCN) is a new initiative with a vision for attracting culturally aware and biblically informed laity to engage in dialogue and promotion of Christian lifestyle and witness beyond the walls of our local churches.

Our Purpose:

to inspire and support members of our Evangelical church community
as we seek to engage effectively as salt and light in the larger secular world, through:

    • Careful reflection and analysis of trends/issues of concern
    • Consultative relationships with individuals, ministries, and think tanks
    • Refinement of our self-awareness of who we are, and ought to be, as Kingdom People.

We sense the need for strengthening our positive presence, and countering negative stereotypes.  We value an emphasis on Christian social responsibility and a winsome approach to sharing the Gospel of Christ through word and deed.

Our development has been proceeding slowly, with a commitment to dialogue, reflection, and discernment.  As our purposes and approach seem to resonate with others, we welcome participation as we continue to shape our response to a changing world around us.

Our sources of influence

We appreciate the world-wide influence of the Lausanne Movement, first formed under the leadership of Billy Graham in America and John Stott in Britain. Its continuing role internationally is profound.  This helps to define our sense of being Evangelical and Missional.  For other sources of influence, view our Specialized Ministries of Current Interest.

Laity focus

Our focus on laity is simply to recognize that all of us as Believers are called into discipleship.  The laity of our churches are at the vanguard of Christian witness within the world.

While churches function under the model of attracting unbelievers into churches, it is most often the laity who, through friendship and example, create the readiness of non-believers to take first steps to connect.  We recognize the challenge of being IN the world, while standing firm against the values and mindsets OF the world.  We sense that growth and discipleship emerges best through active engagement.  The resulting reflections and sharing with others, in the context of prayer and Bible study, help us to a deeper understanding of our mission within the world.

Our identity with Missional Christianity

The Missional Church Movement, energized by many who have been engaged in cross-cultural mission work, places an emphasis on preparation and cultural understanding.  We engage as life-long learners in not only following Christ but in gaining wisdom and best practices of those who have gone before us.  We network here beyond the bounds of our local fellowships as we seek to be faithful disciples through the learning and encouragement of others.
