Sam and the International Crisis over Recent Quran Burnings
First posted July 20, 2023.
The need to provide support for Sam and family continues within this growing threat to Christians in Pakistan and elsewhere. The incidents of recent Quran burning have added immensely to the persecution being experienced by Christians, such as Sam’s Christian family back in Karachi (largest city in Pakistan). Many have heard of the massive flooding that swamped almost a third of the country a few months back. We hear now of inflation at more than 30% ravaging people in Pakistan. The current violence unleashed in the wake of events in Sweden is now the latest directed specifically this time on Christians. It is brutal.
Here are the messages received just a few hours ago from Sam…
… I wanted to let you know that a few weeks ago I met a Pakistani Christian family in our church who recently came here and applied for asylum. They needed my help in writing the details of the events they suffered.
In these recent months, Christians in Pakistan are the targets of escalating attacks. Many churches have been burnt and people are struggling to survive barbaric persecution.
Day by day they are getting worse. In addition to state-sanctioned execution, Pakistani Christians face abductions, indentured servitude, and, all manner of discrimination. The media is not even helping with publishing the events. Sweden’s Quran desecration incident is one of the main reasons

And, further, Sam writes:
This is another guy from Iran who desecrated the Quran somewhere in the West.
My mother just called and informed me that within this week 30+ young Christian men have been killed in Karachi. Many Christian women have been raped and many have been disappeared
There are now almost constant attacks on individuals. The government is not doing anything to protect them.
