Invitation to assist with refugee settlement
A family is ready to be brought to Canada. Funds are in place to bring Sam, Nipa and family.
We simply need five local sponsors in Regina to oversee settlement.
Some details, in brief…
- Sam Afzal, age 35, originally driven out of Pakistan due to severe religious persecution. He currently resides in Thailand as an unwanted alien. He is a man of mature Christian faith. He is fully qualified as a UN sponsored refugee.
- Sam is registered with Northern Lights Canada (NLC), a Christian non-profit organization, as a refugee seeking asylum in Canada. Evaluated, accepted, and now promoted by NLC, we are working with this quality organization to arrange final stages of settlement. Initial details of their refugee condition, to which many have now responded, can be found here: https://www.northernlightscanada.net/profiles/christians-at-risk
- A number of individuals have now successfully raised funds to meet the Canadian requirement of $35,500 for this family of six.
- NLC facilitates resettlement using the “private sponsorship” process. Private sponsorship involves formation of a Group of 5 individuals who undertake to administer funds and otherwise ensure successful settlement in a Canadian community. NLC functions, at no cost and as an approved immigration representative, to guide the sponsorship group in completing and filing all appropriate document and monitoring every step of the process for bringing the refugee family to Canada. (This is an alternative to the more limited use of SAH sponsorship used by many church organizations.) For details: https://www.northernlightscanada.net/resources/guide-to-private-sponsorship
- I (Ron) am seeking to form here in Regina the required Group of 5. The strategy is to first encourage a church group to pick up the project. This is a Christian family that will want to be part of a local church community on arrival. It would be great to have five people from a Regina church to volunteer to bring this project to completion.

I recently asked Sam to make a video to further express in his own English his need and wish for support of Canadian Christians. Here is the video received just in the past two days:
This project is an opportunity for practical Christian service, undertaken either by five individuals or as a church project.
Those taking this on will no doubt look back with some pride on the start of a meaningful relationship that made a great difference in the lives of a family once living in much distress.
Will you consider the possibility here?
